This book is a gem!
This book is a must for anyone who lives or spends any amount of time in San Francisco. Locals and visitors alike will find it indespensible if they love to eat out but don't always want to do it on a champagne budget. This book reveals not only where the great food is in the City by the Bay (and surrounding areas,) but also addresses the pocketbook, too. It's based on the premise that the meals must not come to more than a [certain amount of money.] It covers the gamut from fine dining to taquerias to everything in between. I find the reviews to be comprehensive, realistic and often mirror exactly my impression of the dining establishment. (So it MUST be good!) ;^) The index is divided by both neighborhood and food type and is very easy to use, as the restaurants are then listed alphabetically. I keep mine in the car so that it's always easily available. I use it often. I'm also buying 10 of them as Christmas gifts. My only complaint is that the book falls apart easily.

. . . A Wonderfully Illustrated Tour of San Francisco
I purchased this book, a beautifully illustrated treasure, as a souvenir on one of my trips to San Francisco. The illustrations are so incredible--bright, cheerful, detailed and full of life. Each illustration (i.e. Golden Gate Bridge, The Cable Cars and Lombard Street) is accompanied by a brief history and interesting facts. Other sections include an Overview of the city's history, "Fun Facts" about San Francisco and an "Explorer's Guide". The book is both absolutely beautiful and filled with relevant information about exploring San Francisco including telephone numbers for various attractions. I highly recommend this book both for children and adults.

Awsome collection!
This cookbook is amazing! It has a wide selection of delicious recipes I'd never heard of before. They're pretty simple and quite impressive when served to a party. What looks like it took all day to make really only takes about 30 minutes!
Each recipe also features nutritional value.
This cookbook is a must have!

BOUGHT THIS BOOK ON A WHIM VERY INTERSTING ONLY 64 PAGES AND APROX 10X14 BUT PACKED WITH HISTORICAL INFORMATION, DETAILS ON CONSTRUCTION, COMBAT HISTORY AND LOTS OF BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPHS AND SOME EARLY DRAWINGS. CAPTIONS ARE WELL WRITTEN AND DO A GOOD JOB OF EXPLAINING THE PHOTOGARPHS. I RECOMEND THIS BOOK TO ANYONE WHO LIKES OFFBEAT MILITARY SUBJECTS. THE ONLY TWO THINGS I THOUGHT COULD BE IMPROVED WAS THERE WAS NOT ANY UP TO DATE DRAWINGS OF LAYOUT (DRAWINGS PROVIDED WERE OLD AND HARD TO READ) OR HARDLY ANY UP TO DATE OR COLOR PICTURES. MOST OF LATER PICTURES WERE TAKEN RIGHT AFTER WW2. IF YOU LIKE OFFBEAT MILITARY SUBJECTS THIS MIGHT BE THE BOOK FOR YOU.

Cooking Italian : Desserts

A Culture You Can't Refuse!
Waiting eagerly for this book to arrive I picked it up from between the front door and the screen door. Snapping it out of its box, I set to work for the next two hours to uncover its mysteries and delights. This is indeed a fresh look at the Italian dessert to those of us used to restaurant standard and same ol' same ol' at home. Highly developed around the various fruits of the region, these recipes are fresh, unhackneyed looks at what can be done with dessert from an Italian point of view. Ranging from Apple and Calvados Sorbet to Whole Wheat Plum Tart, the reader is quickly transported to that most magical of all cooking worlds, the dessert. The recipes are workable, not hard, but sometimes a little searching is necessary for some of the ingredients especially if you live outside a major city in the United States. But for the most part the book works with food materials that are readily available here. We all need to be challenged out of our cooking ruts and this book does that. I especially enjoyed the Muscovite Gelato. Mine didn't quite look as beautful as the picture in the book but close enough. If you are feeling the need for a little freshness in your menu, and what with the fruit crops arriving now, plunge into something different. What can it hurt? Try it you'll like it as someone wise once said. There is nothing like the terror of a new receipe to get the juices going and the joy flowing when it works!

Review by former Navy ship Captain
I feel this book is a terrific reference for those who have ever considered plying the waters around San Diego. It's interesting reading as well as very informative. I especially liked the references to often hard-to-find phone numbers. I wish I had this book on my ship when I was in command!

Guides the sailor through the Northwest Carribean
Used this book extensively when we cruised the Caribbean and never had a reason to criticize any information. Entry and exit instructions were explict and correct. We did exactly as he recommended and had no problems. Direction for sailding from Cuba to Mexico were right on and tips about sailing down the Mexican coast were helpful. Belize info was great as was the info about Guatemala!
